Jet Li & Grace update

We got photos of Jet Li & Grace and wanted to share them with everyone :)

Jet Li is from our 2005 repeat Blaze x Sweet Pea litter - he certainly has matured since we saw him last and is quite the strapping young man now!

Grace is from our 2007 Bosley x Raku litter and is working on her flyball training right now - she will also get to play around on the coursing field once she learns to control her incredible speed!

We will post updates on the other kids when we get new photos :)

The month of June review

As I have been trying to do every month - here is the news from this past month and what all the doggies did :)

June 1 - Leo placed 3rd at the CWA meet down in TX for 2 ARX points - he is now up to 8 ARX and 6 NARX!

June 7 - Went to shows in Asheville, NC and Isaac was Reserve Winners Dog to a major - his first show with us in 3 years! He just needs a major to finish. Choo Choo placed 3rd in a very large Open Dog class. Anna placed 4th in her big BBE Bitch class and Dido won her large Open Bitch class.

June 8 - Again at the shows, Isaac won his BBE class but no points and Choo Choo was 2nd in a large Open Dog class - nothing for the girls though.

June 14 - AKC Coursing in Rocky Mount, NC - Choo Choo placed 2nd in the Open Stake for his very first points (3 of them) towards his AKC FC!!! Rupert placed 4th in Open. In Field Champions, GiGi won the stake and Tigger was 4th. Then to our excitement GiGi went on to win Best of Breed and then BEST IN FIELD!!!! That gave her 5 LCX points as well!

June 15 - AKC Coursing again - GiGi placed 3rd in Open for 2 more points towards her LCX, Rupert placed 4th and in Field Champions Cuda placed 2nd, Bosley placed 3rd and Tigger placed 4th. With the results from this trial - it puts GiGi as the #2 Whippet (#1 Bitch), Tigger as the #3 Whippet and Rupert as the #4 Whippet (#1 Dual Champion)

June 28 - Jane took Magnum to a local show in Oregon and he was Winners Dog for his first point!!!

June 29 - Show in Ohio, Isaac was Reserve Winners Dog - so close to finishing. Anna placed 2nd in her Open bitch class. Dido placed 2nd in BBE bitches. Also Elle, Dave and Sailor all went to their new homes.

June 30 - Joanne took Marseille to earn her CGC title - yeah!

Not to bad a month at all - another title earned, points earned towards different titles, new owners to join the Shannon Down family as well. We look forwad to this month and how everything will play out :)

Our weekend news...

Okay - first, lets start at the beginning... Saturday. Saturday we got up early, got everyone pottied and fed and then I started to pack crates for our trip to Lima, OH. We were taking Dido so we decided to breed her to Quincy and Brooks again before we left so we didn't have to take them with us or wait until Monday to breed her again. So after that, we got all the dogs packed up - Isaac, Dido, Anna, Leigh & Rupert tagged along as mom can't leave without him and Dave, Elle & Sailor came along to go to their new homes AND my baby Apoll came along for her first 'real' trip. We hit the road and it was fine, but we were slowed down by rain as we got closer to Ohio. We finally got to our hotel and as we were getting ready to drive to our room - Janina and Jack showed up to pick Elle up. They got there and it was so nice to visit with them. Janina showed us pictures of her Borzoi back in Poland with her sister and we discussed what had to be done in order to get Elle to Poland, getting his health certificate, etc. They were wonderful and when they left we got the dogs all pottied and fed and settled in and went to bed :)

Sunday - the first day we showed. Great show site - showed around 8:30 that morning and the weather was very nice, if anything a bit cool. Isaac won his BBE class and went on to Reserve Winners Dog while the Winners Dog went on to Best of Winners for a major that could have finished Isaac - SO CLOSE! Then Dido wasn't the judges cup of tea, too curvy and placed 2nd. Anna was in Open and was moved to the front of the class at then end and just before moving around the ring she was pushed back to 2nd. The winner of the class went on to Winners Bitch for a major that could have finished Anna - again SO CLOSE!!!! When we got done we went back to the van and pottied Apoll who was a huge hit with everyone - she ran around on the lead and ran towards anything she found interesting - someone pulling crates by on a dolly, a Bouvier walking around, people walking by, etc. Just not afraid of a thing - NOTHING! Also Sarah and her husband showed up to pick up their new boy Dave and he was such a good boy, showing how sweet he was from the moment he stepped out of the van. They had Pat Graves (bowWOWware) make him a collar with his name, a lead and a beautiful sweater for him before we left so we brought those along. Also we took Kiesha's boy Sailor (a Bosley son Kiesha bred) who left with Shiela that has a Brooks daughter "Birdie" that Kiesha bred as well. We stopped on the way back to the hotel for some lunch, went back and got everyone pottied again and fed and then took everyone in the room and laid down for a nap. We decided we were going to stay for Monday, only had Dido entered and Leigh as a special. And since Dido just needs two points and the judge has given her Reserve before, we decided to stick around - we were already there anyways :)

Monday - got up early to pack up our stuff and pack the crates back in the van and then off to the show for an 8am ring time. Well, as we should have known - Dido placed 3rd out of 3 :) That's okay but it would have made our LONG drive just a little easier if Dido had finished :) Well - we came really close this past weekend with Isaac and Anna and 3 Whippies left to their new homes. We got home to find out that Scarlet is in season, along with Delite having come in season over the weekend - at only a year old. So Scarlet will be leaving next Monday to have a little rendevouz with Bowie :) And then just today Charlize came in season for the first time at over 2 and a half years. So right now our boys are NUTS with Dido, Anna, Delite, Scarlet & Charlize all in season - ughhh.

Also - got news on Saturday that Magnum went Winners Dog in Oregon for his very first point - under the same judge that gave brother Leo his first point! Also - yesterday Marseille went and got her CGC (Canine Good Citizen) title! We are so proud of the kids :)
